Welcome to the Christian Formation program site for Province V. We offer resources for lifelong Christian formation and sponsor an annual workshop for formation leaders working with adults, youth and children.

 Summer Training Opportunties

Godly Play Core Training
Godly Play core training will be offered over three days in August at the University of St. Mary of the Lake in Mundelein: Friday, August 12, 4 pm to 9 pm; Saturday August 13, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm; and Sunday August 14, 8:30 am to 4 pm. Training is sponsored by the Office of Lifelong Christian Formation, Diocese of Chicago,  in partnership with the Godly Play Foundation.

Godly Play teaches children the art of using Christian language—parable, sacred story, silence and liturgical action—helping children become more fully aware of the mystery of God’s presence in their lives. Godly Play is about locating each lesson in the whole system of Christian language and involving the creative process to discover the depths of meaning for individuals. Godly Play is about learning how each of the stories of God’s people connects with the child’s own experience and relationship with God.

The goal of Godly Play is to show how to be open to the Holy Spirit, the Creator and the Redeemer all at once and all the time in every place.

Education For Ministry (EfM) Mentor Training
Two concurrent basic in-service training sessions for Education For Ministry mentors will be held August 18 through 20 at University of St. Mary of the Lake in Mundelein. The training begins Thursday Aug 18th between 1 and 1:30 pm and runs through Saturday Augsut 20th afternoon. The first session will begin at 2pm. Journey 2 Adulthood (J2A) Training

Whether you’ve been doing it and need a refresher or are thinking about it and want to know more, this is the program for you. The trainer is Heidi Clark, former Director of Christian Formation for Christ Church Cathedral in the diocese of Missouri. Heidi is a friend and a great and enthusiastic teacher.
